Create a professional Ebay store appearance

April 19, 2008 · 1 Comment

Some of the best Ebay advice I received  when I started my Ebay business of Alice in Stitches, was to create a professional storefront as soon as possible.  I was lucky enough to attend meetings in my local Seattle area, and have the expert advice of Janelle Elms, creator of OSI Rock Stars.  Janelle has been an Ebay educator for years and has remained my Ebay mentor to this date.

To stand out in the sea of Ebay auctions, you need to set yourself apart as soon as possible.  Identify yourself with a unique brand.  Utilize one of the many Ebay store designers to create a special look that will help define your business and sense of style.  Shop around for a designer whose portfolio of work you admire.  Be sure that you can communicate well together, that your designer is responsive and can put the technical aspects into layman’s terms.  You’ll find that pricing and content for your store will vary dramatically – be sure you are clear on what will be included in your Ebay store package.

To get started on the process, you’ll need to do some thinking about the type of business you envision for yourself.  Are you knowledgeable in a niche area that you would like to develop into a business?  Do you already have a store that just needs a new look?  What kind of image do you want to put across to your customers?   When your designer is ready to work with you, you’ll be asked to provide content for your site such as custom pages, the About Me page, home page and so on.

I’m sure that you’ll find, as I have, that creating a memorable storefront is some of the best money spent.
